🪴 The Living Beings We Feed
Your guide to rooting deeper, growing truer, and blossoming wider in our PNW community.
Everything is alive, living, and has spirit. Our stones and phones, emotions and values, songs and stories—all living beings.
Alongside that, life is ceremony, whether we are aware of it or not. Our lives are interwoven connected rituals that we can either bring conscious, intentional prayer and practice to, or not.
And from these truths, comes empowerment and choice—agency to hold our realities and cultures as things we shape and cocreate.
What living spirits are you praying to? How are you feeding stress, anger, and fear?
These aren’t bad emotions. No emotions are. They are forms of intelligence.
But the question we are asking, is how are you metabolizing them? How are you being guided by them?
Again, this comes back to the continued practice of deepening in awareness and attunement to what we are feeding.
We’ve been sharing this a lot lately, and it feels like it is one of those things that needs to be reiterated and reinforced again and again. We need to realize the power we hold again and again in how we live our lives—how we embody the living ceremonies that our existences are, and recognize what living beings we “pray to” or “feed”, with or without our knowing and consciousness.
What feelings, what stories, what living entities are you feeding with your thoughts, actions, and prayers—aware of it or not?
It is so easy to give attention, energy, and “offerings” to the things that keep us in cycles of disassociation, addiction, and perfectionism. Or stuck in spirals of anxiety, regret, and hate. Or taken over by obsession, shame, or depression.
What could discernment look like when we engage with our emotions—these wise, guiding feelings coming from our bodies that are longing to tell us something?
This isn’t about avoidance, it’s about becoming more aware of what we unconsciously dwell on, ruminate about, and allow ourselves to become controlled by. Instead of feeding our individual and collective shadows, can we eat them?
Can we welcome them into their belonging, acknowledge their origins and what they’re telling us, and then consciously shift what we’re feeding towards something more aligned with our truths and dreams?
We could live our whole lives in our wounds, unawaringly feeding what is not serving us. Or maybe, just maybe, we could expand the circles of love and belonging we deem worthy and change what living beings and feelings we unconsciously feed.

Workshops, Retreats, & Rituals For Healing
Grieving Man: A 3-Day Spring Grief Retreat in Bellingham
Fellow brothers, fathers, sons, elders-in-training & the like, with our hearts open and tender, strong and resilient, on May 2nd-4th, we humbly and enthusiastically invite you into the birthing of a new and emergent gathering for men called Grieving Man.
Grieving Man is a friendship-led, land-based, relational and musical healing space. It is a ritual container that welcomes in the multi-faceted expressions of grief, joy, anger, desire, fear, longing (etc.) — emotions that are so often suppressed and stuck in our bodies — to be honored, expressed and, ultimately, transformed in the sacred witness of other men.
As beings socialized as men, most of us were taught at an early age not to show certain emotions. But the truth is, we do feel deeply. We are sensitive beings. We experience loss, love and sorrow. We feel our shames and fears. We are moved by beauty. We hold anger and rage that isn’t inherently destructive, but is a deep cry of the heart. Grieving Man is a space to dive deep into the waters of collective depth, attunement and belonging, together.
Within this container we will explore and expand the edges of what is possible for the transformation and healing of the masculine. We will work to cultivate a community of men that show up, support, and hold each other accountable as we continue to remember and become the men we are meant to be. Learn more and RSVP here.
